MKPLC Official Statement
School Memorandum 003-2020
Suspension of Term 1, Deferral of Term 2 Classes due to COVID-19 Outbreak 12 March 2020
It is with deep regret to inform all parents, guardians, and students that the management of Mighty Kids Play Learning Center (MKPLC) has decided to suspend TERM 1 classes tomorrow (13 March 2020) and Saturday (14 March 2020). MKPLC will also postpone the TERM 2 classes to 23 March 2020 (instead of 16 March 2020) or until further notice. MKPLC, however, remains open to accept inquiries, registrations, and payment of fees from Monday to Friday (8am to 5pm) and Saturday (8am to 3pm).
This is in response to Proclamation No. 922 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte last 8 March 2020 declaring a state of Public Health Emergency, as well as the Davao City Government Guidelines No. 7 issued by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, due to the recent outbreak of COVID-19 in the Philippines.
The management requests your understanding as MKPLC undertakes measures to prove protection of students and staff against the coronavirus, which originated from the Chinese city of Wuhan. The World Health Organization (WHO) has also characterized COVID-19 as a pandemic in its recent press conference.
In conjunction with Proclamation 922, the Department of Health (DOH) issued Alert Level 4, Code Red (Sub level 2) for COVID-19. DOH also announced Wednesday, 11 March 2020, 16 additional cases of Coronavirus patients in the country bringing the total number of cases to 49, with 1 admitted in Cagayan De Oro city, the first recorded COVID-19 case in Mindanao.
The management will keep you posted on further developments and will monitor updates from the DOH as well as the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Meanwhile, we require everyone to exercise extra caution, be socially responsible, and adopt good personal hygiene practices at all times inside school premises and while outside after school hours, to ensure your health, your families and your colleagues.
How to protect yourself and help minimize the spread of the disease?
1. Avoid crowded places and close contact with people who are unwell or showing symptoms of illness, such as coughing and sneezing;
2. Observe good hygiene;
3. Wash your hands with soap frequently, including before handling food or eating, after going to the toilet
or when hands are dirtied after coughing or sneezing;
4. Wear a surgical mask if showing respiratory symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath;
5. Cover your mouth and nose with tissue paper when you cough or sneeze and throw the soiled tissue
paper into the bin at once; and
6. Immediately see a doctor if you are feeling sick.
If you are travelling anytime during this period, you should:
1. Monitor your health closely for two weeks upon return;
2. Seek medical attention promptly if you feel unwell; and
3. Also inform the doctor of your travel history.
If you have a fever or respiratory symptoms (e.g. cough, runny nose, sore throat), you should wear a mask and call the clinic ahead of the visit. Most importantly, please do not panic.
We hope for your kind understanding. Let us know if you have questions. Thank you.
Warm regards,
Dexter Evangelio
